The subjects we teach

Students in primary school

Studying at primary level, pupils having spent at least one year in preschool, children are supposed to learn and develop very fast. The majority of work in primary school focuses on basic subjects and especially on French and mathematics. However, children study different subjects, and for some of them it can be stressful. Many of these subjects are not related to each other.
The Quadrilium process is a method of integration, ensures that students assimilate everything they need to know. We discuss the subject that need to be teached during the school year to promote student at the first level. We have tutors specialists at the elementary level and who have professional methodology to stimulate the student’s interest during this crucial step.

There is also another category of students for whom official school programme is not required . We have tutors specialized to help these children. The parents are proud to see how tutors encourage their children to academically surpass themselves.

At the primary level, parents want to focus on preparing their children for high school entry. Our tutors have a good experience to support and are able to assist the students by providing them adequate preparation and bringing them up to the required standards.

Students in high school

Pupils aged 11 to 14 (since the sanction of secondary education can be made from the age of 14) are living a crucial period of their educational journey. Along the secondary, they build the bases that will lead them to obtain a first important diploma (Diploma of the Secondary). Studies are more complex and difficult because they prepare students for university studies and the job market. It is essential that the student develops his abilities in order to be ready for greater challenges.

Students will continue to focus on French, English, and mathematics, and other subjects seen in primary school such as science, history and geography, and a foreign language, often the Spanish . However, new subjects are added, such as the natural sciences, techno-sciences, technological applications, chemistry and physics. This gradation in the number of subjects to be studied and in degree of difficulty may undermine the pupil’s confidence in his ability to master all this knowledge. Tutoring is a very good way of encouraging and establishing a spirit of balance.

Some students choose to pursue a specialized college education. These specializations sometimes result in a limited number of places, and therefore the need for entry examination. These exams can be very difficult and may well go beyond the curricula studied at school. We have extensive experience in preparing students for these tests and have helped many to integrate the school of their choice.

Secondary School Diploma and International Secondary School Diploma

Graduation is a very important step. Its impact on further education in college and CEGEP and later on university entrance should certainly not be overlooked. The effect of this step may be felt on the rest of the student’s life. As such, it is important to give students every opportunity to reach their potential.

We are able to help students prepare for their Secondary Diploma in all the subjects listed below. Instead of stuffing students’ brains of knowledge on the eve of exams or in a very short space of time, we focus on developing a clear understanding of the principles and concepts underlying each subject. Thus, the student accumulates knowledge in a detailed and sustained, detailed way, preparing him for better academic results and beginning higher studies with more confidence.

Our tutors can help you master difficult concepts, learn more about their subjects and prepare for college entrance.

We offer tutoring in a wide variety of subjects related to BI pathways. If you do not see your material in the list below, please contact us as we may be able to help you.

Why choose online tutoring?

Since neither you nor the tutor need to be moved, you have the opportunity to schedule the tutoring sessions according to your daily time rather than changing your life completely. We may eventually have tutors on-line tutoring, and therefore who work from home. This will have an impact on costs and be beneficial to everyone, making the costs more approachable. We select tutors in the same way, whether they are for in-class tutoring, at home or online. We check their references and we control their ability to make a difference in the schooling of tutors. We have worked with these tutors and we know their level of competence to serve you well.

Are you ready to follow online tutoring?

We use our own home system built into a whiteboard system to create a fully interactive learning space that allows tutors and tutors to build a report similar to a face-to-face session. The online whiteboard is used collaboratively by tutors and tutors to improve learning. Tutors can demonstrate how to solve complex equations, send photos of spreadsheets or draw diagrams. Tutors can also use it to work interactively by typing answers or highlighting sections of a passage or text.

Our goal is to find the best method for your child.

Preparation for secondary school’s admission

For students in Grades 5 and 6 who have the dates of the high school entrance exams scheduled at the beginning or during the month of October, our tutors are ready to guide you and give you the necessary support.

Which school do you want your child to attend? Villa Maria, Regina Assumpta, Sainte-Marceline, and Marie de France ? Places are limited in these schools and there is no guarantee that your child will be admitted to the school of your choice. In most cases, examinations are not standardized. Thus, the preparation books sold on the market prove to be virtually useless in the preparation of the tests.

On the other hand, schools are increasingly demanding the student to be submited to an interview with a teacher in order to establish his / her ability to integrate easily with all the rules already in force. Once admitted to school, an evaluation of English level may be planned for the upgrading of language skills.

Nothing infeasible otherwise. A good revision of the Grade 5 curriculum is the appropriate thing to do as the student must write a French and a mathematics exam based on his / her 5th year knowledge.

The course offered by the Kamelia Educational Center is based entirely on the 5th year program. The revision of theoretical notions and exercises have the following objectives:

  • to practice as much as possible the style of examination generally administered by schools (multiple choice, writing text, etc.).
  • To accustom the student to keep his concentration alive for a longer period of time (the test usually lasts 3 hours).
  • To manage time well.
  • To manage stress well during interviews.

The course is of 8 weeks and consists of the 4 components that generally make up the high school entrance exams: French, mathematics, general education and logical skills.

Disciplines: Mathematics, French, Social universe (general culture).

Skills: Logic.

Assessment test

Purpose of the Assessment Test

  • To validate whether the group course is appropriate for the student.
  • To estimate the number of private counseling sessions required if the student can not be admitted to the group course.
  • To determine the level of mastery of the 5th year program.
  • To follow up on the acquisition of the material before attending the examination of the chosen school.

Date of evaluation test

The first session is devoted to the assessment test and to the correction and general revision.

What the student needs for the assessment test

  • Last year’s bulletin.
  • School supply kit: 2 or 3 pencils, 1 eraser, 1 set of geometry, 1 highlighter.
  • Snack.
  • Bottle of water.

Cost of the assessment test

The cost of the assessment test is included in the course fee. No additional cost for the test.

Preparation courses

Group Courses

  • Once the assessment test is completed, groups are trained for a maximum of 10 students per group.
The sessions are given on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, for a total of 24 hours of classes.
The cost of the course is $ 350.

Individual course

This course is intended for:

  • mostly students who had unsatisfactory scores on the assessment test.
  • to all other students who prefer to have private sessions.
  • hourly rate: $ 30.

Exam simulation

All our students are invited to register and take part in a simulation of admission exams. This is an ideal opportunity to measure the student’s degree of preparation and endurance. It is also a unique moment for:

  • to measure potential difficulties and express them.
  • to correct the shot before the hour of truth.
  • to put time management to the test.
  • to how fast-calm strategy was applied.

Simulation is offered to students enrolled in the course only.

Cost: $45.

Meet a specialist directly at the Center

We could not offer our educational services without thinking of supplementing them with the work that can be done by educational specialists who can help our tutors better help the child. The Kamelia Educational Center offers you the opportunity to meet with a remedial instructor who will diagnose your child and provide you with recommendations for follow-up and remedy.

Our service-related service helps students with learning disabilities by providing them with tools and a personalized approach to better succeed despite the difficulties they encounter. Our Center-based resource teacher understands the challenges of students and parents. It adjusts according to the needs of the child by developing solutions and tailor-made action plans.

The role of orthopedagogy is to detect, identify and evaluate difficulties and learning disabilities in the spoken and written language, logical reasoning and psychomotor development.

The teacher-counselor advises our tutors in their educational interventions with students who are experiencing learning difficulties and teaches students to read, write and reason with more personalized techniques.

It is also his job to establish curricula adapted to the individual needs of the students and to provide the necessary assistance to the parents.

Other specialists

Occupational therapist

At the school, the occupational therapist is responsible for evaluating various aspects of the student’s productivity, primarily physical, socio-cultural and emotional.

It generally evaluates students in difficulty in terms of:

  • fine motor skills;
  • the sensory aspect;
  • visual perception;
  • cognitive skills.

If necessary, he / she will then set up an apprenticeship program to help the student to correct the problems encountered and to study better. He will also advise him to regain self-confidence.

The role of this specialist is to conduct clinical assessments, develop intervention plans, design and deliver programs that are appropriate to the needs of the student with significant behavioral problems. Its mission is to propose solutions specific to each problem encountered. It links the student to all education stakeholders, including tutors, in order to help the student function adequately in the classroom.

This is primarily the resource person when a student is re-enrolled from a regular classroom specialty service.
